Department directives (Goals):

  1. Learning/Teaching – Augment our learning and teaching programs to broaden the educational foundation of our students at all levels to provide them with opportunities to pursue professional degrees and/or to create professional training and job opportunities that possess high visibility (graduate and undergraduate students). Creating this educational foundation will further enhance the visibility of our Department and the University. We will also focus on following student centered teaching approach, improving quality of education and establishing quality control system, making the curriculum world class standard and strengthening it.

  1. Research and Community service (Discovery) – One of the Wollega University’s core activities is conducting research and giving professional services for the surrounding community. Develop a research/discovery program that places our Department within the front line of all Chemistry Departments in the our country by leveraging on-going infrastructure strengths, fostering regional/national/international economic development and creating unique opportunities for our students to compete nationally and internationally.
  2. Staff/faculty – To continue to support staff development, mentoring and retention and to increase the diversity and number of our faculty and staff within the department. We will strive for attaining a higher degree of diversity within our ranks through increased minority representation.
