About the Program of Clinical Nursing
The Nursing program, since its inception 2008, it has started its job with 58 nursing students and has been meeting its objectives by training Bsc nurses that are assigned by Ministry of Education. Additionally it is training up grading diploma nurses in the program of weekend to BSc degree. It has graduated 201 regular BSc nurses in three batches and one batch in weekend program whose number is 56. The program of nursing now has 431 regular and 174 weekend nursing students at the end of June 2013.
The main purpose of the undergraduate degree in nursing is to provide an educational program through which the graduates will be prepared to assume responsibility in the primary, secondary and tertiary care of people as professional nurses. It is expected that graduates are capable of teaching and supervising appropriate nursing and health care in different settings and participate in the administration of nursing service and education.

To train nursing and midwifery students who are competent and can be a role model in clinical area, in the community, nursing service administration, research and education,
It is also aimed to minimize the overriding problems of the country in the field of health through:
- Training of professionally qualified manpower that will be equipped with basic knowledge and skill in their respective field of study.
- Commencing and encouraging educational and health research
- Upgrading health personnel's competence through short term and in-service training
- Provision of consultation, professional and related public services.
The principal objective of the department is to train qualified health professionals to minimize the overriding health problems of the country. To maintain the competence of its output and address the beneficiaries need, under educational philosophy of community based and task oriented with due regard to the strategy of primary health care (PHC).

The vision of the department is to have productive, competent, ethical and innovative graduates of nurses and midwives who can solve the health problems of the country.

General Objectives of nursing program
The primary goal of the B.Sc nursing program is to prepare comprehensively competent nurses with potential in clinical nursing, community health nursing, nursing service administration, nursing research and nursing education, who will improve the quality of clients care in the prevention, promotion, curative and rehabilitative at all the four levels along which the National Health Service is organized. Hence, it includes comprehensively all specialty programs including clinical, community nursing components, and teaching and nursing research.
Departmental Specific Objectives of nursing program
After the completion of the program, the graduates would be able to:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients and the community through appropriate nursing care plan;
- Identify the major factors which promote health or give rise to health problems in the community and use in the planning as well as evaluation activities;
- Demonstrate skills in administration through effective organization and management in a setting;
- Utilize principles of teaching and learning to develop relevant teaching programs for specific group and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum;
- Conduct nursing related research based on the identified problems and use evidence based research to improve the quality of care within the health care services;
- Provide short and long term continuing and in-service education programs for nurses working in different health institutions;
- Improve and bring change related with nursing standards in different departments;
