About Us

The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences (CEBS) is one of the academic colleges of Wollega University, based at the Main Campus in Nekemte, Western Oromia, Ethiopia. Through teaching, research, and community service, CEBS advances teacher education, educational leadership, psychology, behavioral sciences, and community development.

Our goal is to produce competent, innovative, and ethically responsible professionals who improve the quality of education, promote human development, address behavioral and psychosocial challenges, and support the socioeconomic transformation of society. We strengthen the capacity of teachers, educational leaders, behavioral science professionals, and development practitioners through our academic programs and community engagement.

What we value: quality education, research-based practice, inclusive learning, professional ethics, innovation, and collaboration with schools, government institutions, and communities. We respond to emerging educational and societal needs with evidence-based solutions, lifelong learning, and sustainable community development.

College Administration

The College of Business and Economics operates under a dynamic matrix administrative framework. This structure is strategically designed to ensure that while individual academic departments remain directly accountable to the College Dean for core institutional health, they are simultaneously supported, supervised, and enriched by three specialized college-level administrative heads. This dual-supervision model guarantees that academic quality, cutting-edge research, and student-centered administration are deeply embedded across every discipline.

OFFICE OF THE DEAN

The College Dean provides the overarching strategic vision, academic leadership, and executive governance for the entire college. The Dean holds ultimate accountability for institutional quality, resource management, and external relations, ensuring the college actively propels Wollega University toward its goal of becoming a top ten African University of Applied Sciences. All seven department heads maintain direct reporting lines to the Dean.

COLLEGE-LEVEL EXECUTIVE PILLARS

To maintain global standards and drive applied excellence, the Dean's office works in tandem with three specialized administrative heads who supervise and support the operations of the academic departments:

  • The Vice Dean: Oversees day-to-day college operations, student services, administrative staff, and resource allocation. The Vice Dean ensures a supportive, efficient, and smooth academic environment for both faculty and students.
  • Head of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and CDEP Programs: Drives curriculum excellence, quality assurance, and instructional integrity. This office ensures that our undergraduate, graduate, and Continuing and Distance Education Programs (CDEP) remain internationally competitive and highly practical.
  • Head of Research, Community Engagement, Technology Transfer, and Industry Linkage: Spearheads the college's external impact. This office transforms academic theory into real-world value by managing empirical research funding, community outreach, commercializing innovations, and building strategic corporate and public partnerships.
