College of Business and Economics was established as a one of seven colleges in 2007 and has grown to become one of the leading colleges in the Wollega University. College comprises 11 programs clustered under five departments. These include Administrative Science and Secretarial Management, Marketing, Logistics (Commerce Department), Accounting, Banking and Finance (Accounting and Finance Department), Cooperative Accounting, Cooperating Marketing (Cooperative Department), Economics (Economics Department), Management, Procurement and Supplies Management (Management Department), and Public Administration and Development Management (Public Administration and Development Management Department). The college has developed modularized curriculum in almost all fields to enhance the teaching learning process, assessment and evaluation systems. Hence, The College has been able to produce capable graduates in the aforementioned fields at undergraduate level of study. Presently the College is teaching a total of more than 4000 in undergraduate regular, evening, and week-end and summer programs.

The college has also commenced post graduate programs in the fields of Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Masters of Public Administration (MPA) and Masters of Agricultural Economics, Master of Development Economics, Master of Banking and Finance, and Master of Logistics. Currently, the number of students enrolled in the postgraduate program is about 200. Moreover, there is a plan to launch other masters and PhD programmers as well as short term trainings (certificate programs) in the coming years to meet the growing demand for qualified and competent man power in the fields of business and economics.

Finally, the college is undertaking its various activities with the total of 94 academic and 20administrative staff.
