Today, we gather to recognize academic excellence and honor the remarkable journey marked by resilience, commitment, and the boundless potential within each graduate. On behalf of the University Administrative Board and in my capacity, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to today’s proud graduates.

Dear Graduates,

This moment marks not just the culmination of your academic journey but also the beginning of a new chapter filled with opportunities, responsibilities, and the calling to serve. You are stepping into a world that is changing rapidly and demands resilience, critical thinking, creativity, and ethical leadership.

As we celebrate your achievement today, let us also underscore the crucial role you play in shaping the broader vision of our country.

Through its Homegrown Economic Reform Agenda and Ten-Year Development Plan, the Government of Ethiopia has set forth a bold path toward sustainable and inclusive national transformation. At the heart of this vision is you, the graduates, the emerging generation entrusted to shape the nation's future with courage, creativity, and conviction.

Your role is not merely to participate in the economy but to reshape it. You are expected to lead in building a knowledge-driven society where science, technology, and homegrown innovation address pressing challenges across sectors such as agriculture, health, climate resilience, and digital transformation.

In answering this national call to action, I urge you to embrace three interrelated responsibilities that transcend professional boundaries and reflect Ethiopia’s highest aspirations:

Be the architects of a productive, equitable, and sustainable economy that serves all Ethiopians.

2. Champion Peace, Unity, and Democratic Values

As Ethiopia strives to build a peaceful, inclusive society, your leadership is needed more than ever. Be the generation that chooses dialogue over division, reconciliation over resentment, and unity in diversity. As ambassadors of peace and social justice, your words and actions must help forge a stronger, more cohesive national identity grounded in mutual respect and shared progress.

3. Advance Educational Excellence and Institutional Integrity

The government's continued commitment to quality, relevance, and equity in higher education requires graduates who embody the highest academic and ethical standards. As alumni of Wollega University, you are called to carry forward a tradition of critical inquiry, integrity, and civic responsibility. Let your achievements contribute not only to your advancement but also to strengthening institutions and improving society.
