Duties of the ICT Directorate

The ICT Directorate provides strategic leadership, planning, and oversight for all information and communication technology functions across the university.

Key duties may include:      

    Strategic Planning and Vision:

  • Developing and implementing the university's overall ICT strategic plan in alignment with institutional goals and objectives.
  • Forecasting future technology needs and trends to ensure the university remains competitive and innovative.
  • Establishing ICT priorities and allocating resources

         Policy and Governance:

  • Developing and enforcing university-wide ICT policies, standards, and
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and legal requirements related to data privacy and security.
  • Establishing and overseeing ICT governance structures and decision-making

         ICT Service Delivery and Support:

  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality and reliable ICT services to faculty, staff, and
  • Overseeing the operation of the IT service desk and support
  • Establishing service level agreements (SLAs) for critical ICT

         Infrastructure Management:

  • Overseeing the planning, development, and maintenance of the university's network infrastructure, data centers, and telecommunications systems.
  • Ensuring the security and resilience of the ICT

         Information Security:

  • Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive cyber security program to protect university assets and data.
  • Overseeing the implementation of security controls, incident response planning, and security awareness training.

    Academic Technology Support:

    • Providing leadership and support for the integration of technology into teaching and
    • Overseeing the operations of the Teaching, Learning, and Technology and related

         Enterprise Systems Management:

  • Overseeing the management and support of critical enterprise applications
  • Ensuring data integrity and system

         Risk Management and Business Continuity:

  • Identifying and mitigating ICT-related
  • Developing and implementing business continuity and disaster recovery plans for critical ICT services.

         Vendor Management:

  • Managing relationships with external ICT vendors and service
  • Negotiating contracts and ensuring vendor

         Innovation and Emerging Technologies:

  • Evaluating and exploring the potential of new and emerging technologies to enhance the university's mission.
  • Fostering innovation in the use of technology across the

         Communication and Collaboration:

  • Communicating ICT strategies, initiatives, and issues to the university
  • Collaborating with other university departments and stakeholders on technology- related matters.
