College of Engineering and Technology Dean Message

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the College of Engineering and Technology at Wollega University. The college has young and dynamic academic staffs who are actively engaged in research and community service works in addition to teaching learning activities. All programs of our college teaching & learning activity focuses on practical training and problem-solving skills related to specific engineering disciplines through their engineering laboratories, drawing studios and computer lab facilities. In addition, internship provided for one semester at each programs of the college in order to create an enabling environment for students so that they would be capable, practical oriented, and problem solving professionals in their respective fields of specialization. Furthermore, the college intended to strengthen problem based learning often with strong emphasis on industry relevance and hands-on experience.

Currently, the college is working to be promoted to the Institute of Technology by identifying Manufacturing, Construction, and Digital Innovation as its core focus areas. This transformation aims to establish a more autonomous, industry-linked, and innovation-driven environment that can produce graduates and research outcomes directly relevant to the economic development of the region. The Wollega area and its surrounding zones possess growing potential for Construction, Agro processing, Manufacturing, and Energy service sectors. Thus, the college planned to work collaboratively with stakeholders to serve both as a capacity-building hub and as a center of innovation for local public institutions, industries, and service sectors.

Engineering is about doing. Every problem has an engineering solution. Thus, I encourage all stakeholders; let us collaborate for building a better tomorrow for our community.
