The Faculty of Agriculture at Shambu Campus is one of the academic units dedicated to fostering agricultural development through quality education, applied research, and community engagement. It plays a vital role in addressing food security, environmental sustainability, and rural development challenges by producing skilled graduates and conducting problem-solving research.
Currently, the Faculty comprises five active departments: the Department of Animal Science, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Science, Department of Food and Nutritional Science, Department of Horticulture, and Department of Plant Sciences. Each department offers specialized training and practical learning opportunities tailored to the dynamic needs of Ethiopia’s agricultural sector. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the Faculty empowers students with theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills to become future professionals, researchers, and change-makers in agriculture and related fields.
We are committed to enhancing agricultural productivity, improving livelihoods, and supporting the country’s development goals through strong academic programs, partnerships, and innovation. The Faculty also engages in community outreach and technology transfer to ensure that its knowledge and expertise benefit farmers and stakeholders at all levels.
